Among the visions of the Federation of International Hockey is to grow greater audiences and increase participation.
Ghana Hockey has identified communities as a great force to achieve this feat. The growth of Hockey in Ghana, apart from second cycle institutions has been with clubs and development initiatives in the communities.
However, the communities require a boost in their scanty resources to aid the walk to the greater vision, a soon to be achieved. Most Hockey Clubs in the Regions especially the juvenile level have evolved from the communities.
The Objective of developing community Hockey lies in providing resources to these communities and monitoring their growth.
The Ghana Hockey Association has therefore identified three (3) basic resources to revive the development of community hockey. Among these are;
The Association aims to develop already existing parks and swish grounds in communities for developmental purposes.
Grounds will be levelled, goal posts mounted and basic pitch amenities provided
Ghana is at the verge of producing its own hockey equipment for development and commercial purposes. With this, the costly nature of hockey equipment will be subsidized.
The Ghana Hockey Association will seek to provide some funding to communities to aid provide basic incentives to the juveniles under development. Community clubs who are supported will be evaluated periodically.
